Perched atop an impressive cliff, the fortress of Roquefixade has faced Montségur since the 11th century. Over 100 meters long, the fortress is divided into two enclosures. Access is free of charge.
Below, a courtyard surrounded by curtain walls following the ridge line. Upstairs, the castle itself, accessible via a gate tower, a sort of airlock closed by two chicane doors.
